Hello, friends.
I love the crisp feel of the evening air in Colorado Springs as we edge toward fall. The season always fills me with excitement as I anticipate snuggly sweaters, mugs of tea, and reading a book in front of the fireplace.
The next couple of months also stir the author’s passion as conferences and contests swing into full gear. This month, I’ll attend the Christian Podcaster’s Conference in Texas. Then, the first three chapters of a book I pitched to Love Inspired Suspense will be due to the editor’s inbox in October. I’m also eager to hear back about the Serious Writer Contest and hope I will place in the finals.
I am STILL waiting to hear back from several publishers about the children’s books and nonfiction proposals that have been/are being pitched.

My husband and I visited the beautiful state park of Mesa Verde in Colorado a couple of weeks ago. The land, teeming with deer, wild turkeys, and stunning plant life, once hosted tribes of Native Americans who built amazing cliff dwellings. Their ingenuity and ability to survive stunned me.

2 Books I Recommend
Okay—I’m definitely reading more than two. Why don’t I recommend two of the multiple on my stack?
For those of you who enjoy Christian nonfiction and use devotionals to boost your quiet times, I suggest picking up a copy of Jeannie Walter’s beautiful book, A Place at His Table: God’s Daily Gifts to Satisfy Your Heart. The author invites us to commune with the Lord as we consider forty precious gifts. Some of these include the gifts of laughter, trials, and an eternal future. Jeannie also tucks in “table tips”—ideas to enrich a family table or aid with hostessing.
Fugitive in Hiding, the fourth in a Love Inspired Suspense series, reads well even for those unfamiliar with the previous books. The book captured my attention immediately when Naomi Pearson, the main character, found herself thrust into a life-threatening situation. When her brother is suspected of murder, she is forced to accept help from a local bounty hunter and ex-husband, Connor Ryan.
The author weaves a believable tale that led to the couple's separation and left me pulling for both of them. She did throw in an added twist at the end of the story, as well.
