The Hem of His Garment: Reaching Out to God When Pain Overwhelms
The Hem of His Garment delves into the spaces of pain few other books about suffering bother to address including physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual realms. Dr. Michelle Bengston, a clinical psychologist and sojourner on suffering’s path, relates to those who with their own struggles and heartache providing powerful personal examples and Biblical insight.
Each chapter concludes with a personalized prayer, a set of reflection questions and exercises labeled ‘Your Rx’, and a recommended list of praise songs.
The Hem of His Garment challenged my thinking and offered comfort without minimizing feelings–a gift to those dealing with pain, grief, or lament. I’ve already purchased a copy for a friend and put this book at the top of my list of those I’ve read this year.
Countdown: Extreme Measures Book Review
Lynette Eason’s fourth book in her Extreme Measures series, Countdown, captured my attention from the first paragraph. Aloof and independent, Raina Price realizes her past has caught up with her when the secret she kept close to her heart is revealed–putting her back on a stalker’s radar.
US Marshal Vincent Corelli, who has been interested in the mysterious Raina for months, pledges to protect her from the person threatening her life. Working with one another, they try to halt a string of killings unleashed following an unexpected release of information.
Fast-paced with an unexpected ending, Countdown stands alone. However, I intend to read the previous books in this series. I read this book in two days!
Thank you to the publisher for my advanced reader’s copy of the book. This
is my own unsolicited opinion.
Fugitive in Hiding Book Review
Fugitive in Hiding, the fourth in a Love Inspired Suspense series, reads well even for those unfamiliar with the previous books. The book captured my attention immediately when Naomi Pearson, the main character, found herself thrust into a life-threatening situation. When her brother is suspected of murder, she is forced to accept help from a local bounty hunter and ex-husband, Connor Ryan.
The author weaves a believable tale that led to the couple’s separation and left me pulling for both of them. She did throw in an added twist at the end of the story, as well.
I will definitely read another of Jenna Knight’s books and recommend Fugitive in Hiding if you enjoy romantic suspense with a Christian worldview.
Blue Ridge Mountain Escape Book Review
Sparks fly when Haley Gordon and Kendall Simpson meet in Loretta Eidson’s new novel, Blue Ridge Mountain Escape.
Although Haley had hoped for a relaxing weekend, she falls into the clutches of four escaped convicts. Together, she and Kendall, a forest service firefighter, must manage to outrun a raging forest fire and guide the criminals to safety. The book contains a lot of action, drama, and a touch of romance. Edison wove a faith element throughout and provided a happily ever after readers who choose to read this line of books always enjoy.
Light, enjoyable, and entertaining.
